If you want to maintain the old scroll animation duration behavior, set the speedAsDuration option to true. This isn't really an "issue" so-much as a question I get a lot. help of CSS, well smoothDescription: Yet another smooth scroll JavaScript. Smooth Scroll respects the Reduce Motion setting available in certain operating systems. CSS Syntax scroll-behavior: autosmoothinitialinherit If you wanted instant. In browsers that surface that setting, Smooth Scroll will not run and will revert to the default "jump to location" anchor link behavior. My browser of choice, Safari, does not currently support this property, but Iâve implemented it on this site anyway. I've decided to respect user preferences of developer desires here. The scroll-behavior is a CSS property thatâs got some but not full browser support so you mileage will vary. If the element has been assigned a height of 100% or overflow: hidden, Smooth Scroll is unable to properly calculate page distances and will not scroll to the right location. ![]() The element can have a fixed, non-percentage based height (ex. 500px), or a height of auto, and an overflow of visible. Animating from the bottomĪnimated scrolling links at the very bottom of the page (example: a "scroll to top" link) will stop animated almost immediately after they start when using certain easing patterns. smooth: True to its name, this value is the smooth animated transition between elements within the scrolling box. auto (default): This value allows the abrupt jump between elements within the scrolling box. This is an issue that's been around for a while and I've yet to find a good fix for it. The scroll-behavior property accepts two values, which essentially toggle the smooth scrolling feature on and off. Scrolling to an anchor link on another page I've found that easeOut* easing patterns work as expected, but other patterns can cause issues. This, unfortunately, cannot be done well. ![]()

A good technical analyst is like a detective, always using the most recent information available to them. Oftentimes, patterns don’t quite react as expected, which reveals the formation of another pattern. It is when the boundary breaks that we often discover the truth if the pattern was valid or not. Types of Cryptocurrency Charts PatternsĬryptocurrency chart patterns aren’t always visible immediately, and require several touches of each trend line acting as a boundary to the pattern. You can learn more about how to read crypto price charts here. Most price charts also include trading volume, which along with price is what technical analysts use for data. It is the line or candlesticks that a technical analyst draws lines across to discover and highlight potential chart patterns. This is usually represented as a line chart, or more commonly as Japanese candlesticks. Price rises and falls depending on the trading action between the two pairs. The price line is the horizontal line which shows the most recent price the asset was traded at. This suggests that in the BTCUSD example, the price of Bitcoin is quoted in US dollars. The first currency in the pair is called the base currency, while the second is the quote currency. For example, BTCUSD is the trading pair of Bitcoin against the dollar. How Do You Read A Crypto Chart PatternĬryptocurrency price charts consist of a price ticker which shows the two symbols related to the trading pair. In crypto, the trading day never quite ends, which makes day trading much more accessible to all. Unlike other markets that close down, the term “day” is subjecting. Does Pattern Day Trading Apply To Crypto?īecause cryptocurrencies respond so well to technical analysis and trades 24/7, and because all patterns appear regardless of the time frame – no matter how minor – traders can make money non-stop by day trading cryptocurrencies. To make it easier, we’ve created this Crypto Pattern Cheat Sheet. Thus, learning as many of these patterns as possible is the most beneficial. The same bullish chart pattern might develop further, and eventually turn into a larger, bearish pattern. Speculators love to talk about which Bitcoin price patterns they see, for example, and are often subjective to the viewer. Because human emotion drives the price behavior in these markets, crypto assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum respond especially well to technical analysis, and more specifically, chart patterns. Well, it starts with a need for context. Ah yes, the dreaded exposition - or explanatory description - has been known to sink more than a few good scripts. There’s a word in screenwriting that most screenwriters shutter to hear… and that word is exposition. Context Clues Set the Stage How to use context as exposition Alas, there’s no “right” answer, but it’s important to consider how context, both inside and outside of a story, can influence readers. Non-narrative context is everything outside the story that influences our thoughts and opinions on the subject matter. The Google spokesperson declined to explain precisely how the “verified” label was awarded. 68 of the false translations were marked as “verified” by Google. In their vast majority, the errors had to do with feminine forms converted to their masculine equivalent. In my experiment, 182 translations out of 440 turned out to be false. But “the developer” translates to “le développeur” and all the sentences I tried translated into the masculine, including the phrase “the developer is a woman”. Over two years after the changes were deployed, “developer” is correctly translated into French both in the masculine form as “le développeur” and in the feminine as “la développeuse”. However, it is unclear whether such efforts were made in earnest. In 2018, Google introduced a feature that alerted users that some words could be gender-specific when translating from English. Only in May 2020 did the Association for Computational Linguistics, a large professional body, tell reviewers of their annual conference that they could not reject a paper solely because it was about a language other than English. Several experts I talked to agreed that the community of researchers working on machine translation was not very concerned about non-English languages. “The majority of nouns in English are gender-neutral: so, when translating the feminine term for ‘nurse’ from a gender-inflected language to English, the gender is ‘lost’ in the translation to the bridging language,” the Google spokesperson added. The most common language used as bridge is English.” Language bridging in translation means that to translate from X to Y a third language is introduced (E) based on the existence of bilingual data to translate X to E and then E to Y. The way to enable these translations is by using a technique called ‘bridging’. Stereotypes sneak into translations because Google optimizes translations for English.Ī Google spokesperson told AlgorithmWatch that “translating between language pairs requires high volumes of bilingual data that often don’t exist for all language pairs. In some cases, especially when nearby words contain feminine forms, Google correctly translates gender-inflected forms. This experiment might not reflect what Google Translate shows when translating web pages or longer texts. The experiment’s code and data are available online. ![]() For instance, “l'insegnante” in Italian designates both a female and a male teacher.) (When Google correctly translated a feminine occupation, it was often because the target language’s word was not gender-inflected. “Kierowniczka” (Polish for female director) was correctly translated in all four target languages, although “die Chefin”, “la capa”, “la jefa” and “la cheffe” were wrongly translated to their masculine forms. From French to Spanish for instance, “la vendeuse” was correctly translated to “la vendedora” and “le vendeur” to “el vendedor”.Įrrors are not systematic, showing that they can be fixed. In my list, shop assistant was best translated by Google, with 33 correct translations out of 40. “Der Krankenpfleger” (the male nurse in German) becomes “l’infirmière” (the female nurse) in French. “Die Präsidentin” (the female president) is rendered to “il presidente” in Italian, although the correct translation is “la presidente”. In many cases, Google changed the gender of the word in a grossly stereotypical way. Together, these languages are natively spoken by three in four citizens of the European Union. I analyzed 440 translation pairs to and from German, Italian, Polish, Spanish and French. In an experiment, I translated 11 occupations from one gender-inflected language to another. Female historians are simply removed from the text. The phrase “vier Historikerinnen und Historiker” (four male and female historians) is rendered as “cuatro historiadores” (four male historians) in Spanish, with similar results in Italian, French and Polish. If you were to read a story about male and female historians translated by Google, you might be forgiven for overlooking the females in the group. ![]() ![]() She was the first member of hololive -Myth- to debut.
